Alberta at the Sydney World Masters Games

Congratulations to all those who participated in the World Masters Games in Sydney, Australia in early October, Alberta was well represented with our Masters swimmers!! Check out the results here.

FINA has now ratified that Masters will fall under the same swim suit rules as the rest of world.

MATERIAL - The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of "textile" currently is: "Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding."

SHAPE - MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed.

USE - Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted.

CONSISTENCY - Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers.

Swimmers and Clubs:

I recently attend the Master Swim Canada meeting in Toronto Nov 7-8.

At this meeting representatives from all provinces were in attendence with the exception of Saskatchewan. The representaives from the provinces form a group called "Council of Provinces". The main purpose for this group is be the communication link from the province to MSC.

Masters Swim Canada Board is there for you the swimmers. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, I am your resource person to deliver you message to them and/or try to answer your questions as best as I can!

The Council of Provinces is scheduled to "meet" quarterly via teleconference with our first meeting set for Nov 26, 2009. If you have any input/concerns/questions that you would like raised at that time, please feel free to contact me.
